MANSER HOUSE: (Named in honor of David Manser 6-11-61 - 1-1-91)

Was the 3rd Housing Unit for Emmanuel's Hands. The house was rented with the intention of using it for women. It was only opened for 3 months when the board felt that there would not be enough women in the unit to support it financially. The house was then turned back over to it's owners who very generously agreed to rent it and delay collecting a security deposit in order to help the unit get started.

WILLIAMS HOUSE: (Named in honor of Kenneth Bruce Williams. 11-22-48 - 5-22-95) This was the second of three housing units which did rather well. It was a men's unit which began under the direction of Daniel Gonzalez. This unit was nearly always full during the year it was in operation. It helped to carry the women's unit for 3 months and also helped maintain our first housing unit, Thorpe House. Unfortunately, at a final zoning hearing, it was determined that since we had one house already, there would be no need for a second so after 1 year of operation it was shut down.

THORPE HOUSE: (Named for John Thorpe 7-15-47 - 1-1-97) John Thorpe was a client of the program for nearly 4 years. After he graduated the program successfully he went on to volunteer at the main office and also serve on the advisory board. This was the first housing unit, for men that the program set up. Located on the second floor of the building which housed our main office for 7 years; it was the smallest and most successful unit. However, due to a severe drop in funding the program was forced to downsize and go into another direction in December of 1998. The building was turned back over the it's owner and the housing unit closed.
